Going public

Okay, people, this is it. This can go on no longer.

No more buttered popcorn. I weigh more than I've ever weighed, and I don't like it. I bought a cute pair of shoes last week that have buckles, and I almost cannot reach around my gut to buckle them.

So, in front of God and you guys, I'm vowing to lose weight. 30 pounds. Then I'll look at "things" and rethink it all. By the end of the year. (I vowed in January--not a resolution, since I don't keep those hahahahahahahahaha!--that I'd lose 24 pounds by July. That's only 4 pounds a month, totally doable, but only if you don't sink into a deep dark pit that's only scaled by mounds of buttered popcorn and lots of medications.)

I just weighed myself here at school (my skinny boss keeps them here, damn her skinny ass) and it's appalling. I'll write down the amount and hide it in my desk drawer, and I'll keep track of it and share it with you (if it happens. Yeah, yeah, think positively and all that.) I'd post a photo but it would scare the children and animals.

So, keep me on my toes, will you? I'll need all the help I can get.

Why is it so hard to lose weight at our age....do we just stop burning calories at a certain age?
I had the wake-up call three years ago, when both of my kids were getting married within three months of each other...didn't want to look too fat in those wedding pictures. Since I am not a big fan of excessive, or any, exercise, and I don't tend to drop much weight when exercising anyway, I decided the easiest thing to do was to stop eating at night....nothing after supper, which I try to eat by 6:00. I must have been eating a ton of calories at night, because I started losing weight. I didn't weight myself for a long time....too depressing, but recently I did get on the scales, and I am 20 pounds lighter than the last time I was weighed at the doctor's office, a little over a year ago. Ten more pounds and I will be back to my pre-childbirth weight. Mind you, I've done this over three years, because I learned a long time ago that quick weight loses don't stick. So, I feel your pain, but you will do it, I am sure!

p.s. You look fine to me as you are, but if you want to lose weight, I will be there to encourage you! The no eating after supper plan is fairly painless, as I still eat pretty much anything I want, I just don't eat at night. And, as a bonus, once the weight starts to drop, you can't eat as much in any one sitting, so you drop even more weight!

Okay, that should be I didn't "weigh" myself and not "weight"...weighting myself would just be silly.

Also, I should have said "pre-pregnancy weight" since "pre-childbirth weight" would have been a bit hefty for my ideal weight!

See, just talking about weight boggles my mind and makes me stupid.

So, I wanna know what happens to the boobs with the really nice bras now, when the weight is gone? I was watching Dr. Oz a couple of days ago and he said if you want to lose weight, cut out all sugary sodas and right before dinner, eat a slice of whole grain bread dipped in about a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. For my weight loss to continue, I just need to start moving my ass again! We will have to keep each other on track! I've learned if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen!!!

Thinking about weight is just plain depressing, but so is trying to zip up the jeans you gave me because they're too small for you, Betty!!!

We must stop burning calories; remember that Over 35 for Women diet? I think that probably ruined us for life. We lost a lot of weight, but it messed us up big time.

My problem is that we don't get home until 7 or so at night, so I'm eating later. Also, we go to bed a lot earlier than you do, so I usually eat and then go to bed, which isn't good.

I used to only weigh myself at Mom and Dad's in their hall bathroom, because their scales always made me feel so light! Until Tuesday morning, when I saw how much I weighed on THEM--that was my wake-up call.

You've done really, really well losing weight pretty much painlessly.

Oh, Deedee, I thought about that after I bought the bras! I'll have to buy new ones (bras, not boobs!) if I lose enough weight. I like the bread and olive oil idea. Pepsi, though, like Betty, I just love! I gave it up for years once before, and this morning I'm drinking green tea, but only because I left the Pepsi in the truck (Tom dropped me off) and the teacher center for my department (and that's the only one I have a key for!) is out of Pepsi, so I have to wait till the office downstairs is open. I MUST have Pepsi!

But this morning I weigh 4 lbs less than I did Wednesday, which is probably just water weight. I need to drink more water. But Pepsi..... and red wine!!!

Yep, that Over 35 diet was a killer. It worked really well at the time, but the no sugar requirement had me craving sugar for a long, long time. Also, I used sugar substitutes during that time, which we now know are very, very bad for us, and I worry about ever having used them. That diet also cost us our gallbladders. The way I'm doing it now is much slower, but hopefully it will stick!

I need a Pepsi lovers diet. I refuse to ever give up sugar again, but I am trying to cut down some. On sugar in general, that is, not Pepsi.
