Yarny stuff

Claudia has asked me if I'd like to knit test garments for her. She'll pay me in yarn.

How long do you think I had to consider that? You're right.

First she has us knitting gauge samples. She's had some patterns written for some of her designs, which are incredible, and she gave two of us yarn (Heidi got chunky in Antique Jeans**drool** and I got worsted in Strawberry Latte) and told us to go at it. So far I've knit one on size 8s and one on size 7s. Here's the 8s (couldn't tell you the gauge; I was gone all last weekend and didn't have time to check it):

This one isn't striping as obviously as the one on smaller needles, but it's striping. I'm hoping that on a garment it'll work up better.

Test-knitting for Claudia? Hell, yeah!

When I grow up, I wanna be YOU! I'd say Claudia is one lucky woman to have you around. :=)

I'm the lucky one! It can be physically difficult work (for my aged body), but it's been so great to learn so much about the business and the yarn.

I haven't grown up yet, so maybe we can grow up together. Or not! As long as it's together.

Have you seen Peppermint Latte? Oh, it's heavenly, even prettier than the Strawberry. I think that it was an exclusive for a shop, so it might only be available through that one. I can't remember which one it was.

When it's an exclusive colorway, even the tiny ends and cuttings have to be sent to the buyer. No fair!

Hey, do you do any knitting for your grandkids' dolls? I get lots of ends of hanks that aren't long enough to sell. They're thrown away, and I pick out what I like. I keep meaning to make some little clothes for A's American Girl dolls. Haven't, of course, but I can get some nice colorways in the Fingering 55 (merino and silk) that I haven't bought yet.

Funny you would ask that! I was planning on getting K an American Girl doll this next Christmas and I had an alterior motive..so I could knit it some clothes! LOL How fun would THAT be?!

There are lots and lots of knit patterns on the internet for 18" dolls. I even bought a book of matching things for girl and doll, then A went and moved to FL. Not much use for matching pullovers there.

One of these days I'll try knitting something for her dolls. I bet these ends that I get will do great for them. Definitely for doll socks.
